Pakistani journalist Kamal Siddiqi honoured with courage and impact award – M Haris

Pakistani journalist Kamal Siddiqi received the prestigious Journalists Courage and Impact Award on Monday at the East-West Media Conference organised by the East-West Center (EWC) in Manila, Philippines.

Siddiqi was among seven recipients honoured for their dedication to journalism and press freedom, often in challenging circumstances. His insightful writing and commitment to truth have educated and inspired countless readers, setting high standards in journalism.

The citation honouring Siddiqi highlighted his work across print, digital, and broadcast media, as well as his contribution to excellence through media education and training. His efforts in regional networking of journalists and his advocacy for media freedom were also commended. He is the first Pakistani journalist to receive this award.

Siddiqi is recognised as one of EWC’s ‘Journalists of Courage and Impact’ for his contributions to journalism in Pakistan and the region, and for his outstanding support to other EWC media alumni. The EWC has also invited Siddiqi to join a plenary panel at the IMC to discuss the challenges of reporting elections in Asia.

Currently associated with AAJ News, Siddiqi was formerly the Editor of The Express Tribune. He has also previously been associated with The News and Dawn.
